Dear fellow Page and Page Up members,

I have decided to step down as president of Page at the end of this year. It’s time for new leadership at Page and time for me to move on to other professional pursuits. I will be leaving with a sense of accomplishment and with excitement about the next steps in my professional journey.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as president of your professional association, and I leave with deep gratitude to all of you for your support and collaboration in taking Page to new heights.

As you know, we are in the first year of our ambitious new three-year strategic plan, and I felt it was appropriate for my successor to have an opportunity to have some time in the role before the next strategic planning period was upon us.

The Page Board of Trustees will discuss the search plan at its meeting next Thursday, June 20, and will announce details about the search process following that meeting.

When I took on this role at what will be 13 years ago by the time I step down at the end of this year, I had no idea that this would be such a long and rewarding journey. Initially, I just thought that I would be in an interim role, but I quickly found that this was the work that I felt called to do at this point in my life.

To all of you who have served on our Board of Trustees during this time, and to the seven chairs of the board to whom I reported: I am forever grateful for your support, encouragement and leadership.

To our increasingly diverse, international and influential membership: I am thankful for all you have done to make the role of the chief communication officer or head of corporate affairs so central to the strategic leadership of business, non-profit and governmental organizations around the world.

As our most recent research report, Beyond Communication, demonstrates, we are having a bigger impact on our organizations than ever before, and the world is better off for our influence in helping our organizations to make the world a better place. To have had the opportunity to play a small role in making this possible is the honor of a lifetime.

I plan to remain an active member of Page, working alongside all of you to continue to elevate our profession and our impact on the world. Our mutual commitment to help our organizations create value and opportunity for all people around the world continues to motivate me, as I know it does all of you.

And so, I say not farewell, but onward! I will be with you on the journey.

Best,
Roger
